Just one week after India’s much celebrated ruling decriminalising homosexuality in the capital New Delhi, the religious homophobes have begun to organise themselves. An astrologer has gone up to the nation’s Supreme Court and filed a petition asking for the 148-year-old Section 377 which governs “carnal intercourse against the order of nature” to be reinstated. The Supreme Court has now issued notice to the government challenging the judgement by the Delhi High Court and the government now has 11 days to declare where it stands on the issue.
