Hidden behind a 21st Century Iron Curtain is a country that was once America’s playground, and may still one day become that again. For now, its beauty and unique Latin/Caribbean culture and architecture remains unseen to many potential visitors. Today, however, we will make a virtual visit to the capital one of America’s closest (in proximity) neighbors to the South – HAVANA, CUBA!
In 1592 King Philip II granted the city of Havana capital status of Cuba; it’s close proximity to the Americas played an integral part of Spanish settlements thereafter. A little under 300 years later the sinking of the U.S.S. Maine ignited the Spanish-American war. Needless to say, there is plenty to this small island nation worth exploring.
Come join our virtual guides as we explore the highlights “old Havana” and discover all the changes since tourism has now become more attainable in recent years. Included will be The Malecón, Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morrom the National capitol Building, Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro and more!
We will also why some of Cuba’s exports – rum, sugarcane, and cigars- are still some of the most coveted across the globe.
